Happy Year

According to the Chinese astrology calendar, 2009 is the Year of the Ox. Has anyone wondered why it is called the Year of the Ox, and not the Year of the Bull, Cow or Cattle? According to Hyperdictionary.com, an ox is a C-A-S-T-R-A-T-E-D adult bull, characterised by its stout body, hollow horns, and a large fold of skin hanging from the neck.

*holy cow*

Yes! Something just doesn't seem right when the symbol of celebration actually had his family jewels forcibly chopped off by Man. Hmm.. can we just call it the Year of the Cow instead?
