Congratulations Singapore for having another World's #1! Yes, Numéro Un!
The Singapore Grand Prix (say with me: "GRAUUUN PREEE") will be the first in Formula 1 history to be held at night and is the first F1 street race to be held in Asia. It is the 15th round of the race calendar and will be held at the Marina Bay street circuit from September 26 to 28.
The low-downs on the first F1 night race include:
- Race Distance: 61 laps = 308.95 km
- Maximum speed:In excess of 300kph
- Circuit Length: 5.067km / 3.148 miles
- Circuit Details: Anti-clockwise
- Lap Time: 1min 30sec (estimated)
- Corners: 24, consisting of 14 left turns and 10 right turns
- Slowest corner: 80 – 100 kph
The 80,000 spectators at the track, and billions of TV viewers (yours truly included) should note the overtaking opportunities at:
- Turn 1: Pit Straight
- Turn 7: Raffles Boulevard; and
- Turn 15: Esplanade Drive
