Yes, Justin is picking up the hippie sport that recently took Singapore by storm - dragon boat. It started off with a fun row with my company 2 weeks ago. I went with little expectations and a very lonely guy because none of my department colleagues were willing to participate in the activity. I didn't even know if I am going to enjoy it especially since I will be deprived of a decent shower after dipping into the Singapore/ Kallang river. Yes, I admit I am a bit pampered after joining my gym. Hee.
But I finally understand the craze over dragon boating in Singapore and all over the world. Other than the team-building crap, it is really a very shiok (exhilarating in local bastardised English) combination of adrenaline rush and a bloody good workout. It is definitely a refreshing change to my usual gym-swim-run exercise regime. I mean, the machines and lessons at Cali are excellent, but this sport really works the lateral and posterior deltoids (or back muscle). Tintin can actually feel that one side of his back (my left) has grown much thicker than the other side (my right). Just remind me to sit on the left side of the boat, so I can work on the right side of my back. This way, the muscles get to "balance out", and I'll avoid having disproportionate-looking shoulders.
I am sure looking forward to the next DB session for the adrenaline rush, riverwater bath, and a good dose of Vitamin D.
