Super-Whatever

I don't know if the marriage between reality drama and talent show is a good thing, but in recent years, the Little Red Dot is swamped with a plethora of variety shows with oxymoronic titles: Superstar, Superband, Superhost, Campus Superstar, etc. Oh well, somebody should tell the local TV station to spare us from the excruciating embarrassment, or get serious help from the local production houses in naming their shows.

Let's face it - a mighty big percentage of contestants are zillion miles from talented. Maybe we should have a Super-Loser, and I bet many of them will qualify for the final 12. Gawd, memories of Steven Lim da Yellow-Underwear-SingaporeIdol-Wannabe just surfaced naturally. Yeeeks!

The current series on Channel U "SuperBand" is no exception. The only saving grace was the judges - they managed to invite 小松 (one half of the Taiwanese male duo 小松小柏). For once, we don't have individuals that raved about "Feel" or "Head Voice". (Yes, Justin really hate those dumb comments that indicate really rojak Mandarin!). I was just discussing with my friend that given that most of the young audience/contestants are borned in the 90s, they'll probably know nuts about 小松. I say, make him the special guest, and bring the house down with the old hits like <留 一片蓝天>.

Hoots!
