I guess Chinese readers will be familiar with the old saying 姜还是老的辣. Indeed, some things get better when they age e.g. wine, cheese. But does this rule applies to the "survival of the fittest" animal kingdom? After all, old animal foggies tend to be slower and weaker than their younger counterparts.
During my visit at the Zoo with PS on the Red Cross Donor Day, we managed to watch this bigger (and I assumed older) tortoise on the right (let's call it "Biggie") charging head-on, or rather walked as fast as it could, towards the smaller tortoise on the left (let's call it "Tiny").

Based on our observation, it seemed that Biggie wanted to go over to the corner of the enclosure occupied by the Tiny as it had considerable more shade from the nearby bushes. (You see, it was a very hot afternoon at about 2pm at that time.)
Oh well, we are expecting them to fight head-on, but we were solely disappointed. Tiny did not put up a fight to protect its turf.. AT ALL! In fact, right after this shot, Biggie chased Tiny around the enclosure and practically scared the shells off Tiny!
Alas, it was interesting to visit the Zoo after so many years. PS particularly enjoyed the Baboon enclosure which was really huge and offered several vantage points to observe their monkey business. But then, yours truly wasn't so turned on by their red bums. I preferred the wild cats enclosure (cheetah, tiger, and the lions). These animals seemed to know there are visitors who are dying to take some good pictures (you know, as evidence that they have visited the Singapore Zoo), so these cats shamelessly did their "catwalk" all afternoon. Oh did I mention that they do it very very well? Natural-born fashionistas.
Anyway, here's me and a fellow Japanese tourist. Oops, I mean my sweetie. =)
