So Sick..

*Boo Hoo* Justin has been really really sick since Wednesday. The most serious bout of flu (headache + fever+ runny nose) that I had suffered in 2007 (*yes, I admit I am quite susceptible to contagious disease* BEWARE!!). The only consolation is that I am not hit by a migraine that's bad enough to make me throw up.

So while everyone is enjoying the Good Friday Holidays, yours truly is stuck at home, listening to his mp3. It's a good chance to discover some songs that had sat in a dark clammy corner of your hard disk for donkey years, and upon listening, you realise why they are there in the first place.

I especially enjoy live recordings (*yes, thank God for YouTube for all the videos online), cos they are usually not available through CDs/ radio. A gem that I listened today was "Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson & Annie Lennox. For the uninitiated, I am a bloody big fan of Annie Lennox. Although she is old, ugly and does not have a really sweet voice (yes, I need to be honest here), but she HAS style and charisma to work that MAGIC on the stage. After all, she has become the thespian British singer who does not need any scandals or nudity to sell albums. Besides, she is channelling more of her attention to better causes such as Live8.

Annie has this thing about recording duets with veteran singers or remaking oldies using her own arrangement, and this was a recording in her unplugged concert years back. "Tracks of My Tears" is probably an evergreen for a reason, as the lyrics of the chorus goes:

So go take a good look at my face
And you'll see the smile's so out of place
And if you look closer,
It's easy to trace the tracks of my tears

Isn't it what most of us are suffering from? Some hurt and tears in us, but we had deliberately covered them with smiles and laughter? *sigh*
