Before you say "I do", it is important to get the prioirities right. I witness many couples fret over the frills of the wedding (honeymoon destination, housing arrangement and banquet location), sometimes even when the guy hasn't made the marriage proposal! Good heavens. Are these couples losing focus on the more important things in a marriage - like how to make the marriage work? I learnt that being together as a pair of lovers is a different story from being the other half for the rest of your life. Hence, I am quite glad that my missus dragged my feet to attend the marraige counselling course organised by my pastor. It was held over 2 sessions, and we explored various issues that will surface in a marriage. The fellow brothers and sisters-in-Christ also shared about their experience in failed marriages and broken families, and it made me appreciate my family even more.
It was definitely a milestone for us in completing this course. That being said, we are only 20% done with our counselling book. I have this hunch it will take us another 6 months to finish that book.
