I know if I belong to the hip and trendy crowd (I know I really do *flick hair*.. haha), I should be on Twitter instead of wasting my time piecing My Smithereens. After all, blogging is so 2007, and Facebook is so 2008. But then again, this is my online and public diary for me to reminisce my good old days when I am 50.

Over last weekend, I had a good time spending a day with my extended family. I feel like a mini pop star, attending 2 family gatherings in a day. And PS was really nice to attend them even though she had an exam in the morning.

Round 1
Lunch was a simple Vietnamese affair at my Eldest Aunt's place to welcome my 2nd Aunt who is back from the US. My paternal relatives are a reserved stoid bunch, almost clinically boring. Not many words were exchanged over the meal, and if they were, I can second-guess the nature of conversation. So I had mentally prepared PS about my inquisitive 姑妈s and the possible questions they will likely to ask. True enough, they are more interested about her career, educational, religion than anything frivolous (cue: the engagement story). Add in one or two cynical comments in prim and proper Queen's English, and you wished you have more interesting relatives.

Round 2
Dinner was a dieter's nightmare buffet spread at my 4th Aunt's place to celebrate my Uncle's birthday. My maternal relatives are the opposite of those from my paternal family. Things are more informal. I grew up calling my 阿姨s by their English names, a privilege my younger cousins did not have. They are noisy merry-makers, and were visibly excited when we broke the news of our wedding. Well, after the stressful lunch, I suppose my gf probably prefer the hearty dinner.

Talk about twitter. After dinner, the cousins sneaked to the house to play with my cousin's bird. No naughty thoughts here. There are 4 real birds who are domesticated and trained to do tricks you see at the Jurong Bird Park.
