I was dumbfounded when my friend SJ conducted an interview with me earlier this evening for her radio show. It was conducted in Mandarin, so I had to provide my biodata in Mandarin. No problem with that, you thought. However when she asked for my occupation, I was totally stumped! For once, I wished I was in my previous job (*it's so not going to happen*) because I could easily give its Chinese term. But Yours Truly is now a Compliance Officer! This job function in the financial services industry has only been in existence for about 15 years, and so far, I really haven't come across the Chinese term for it.
It's God's grace that we have Google and Chinese job recruitment websites. Now I can proudly say I am a... *drumrolls please*...
