Yes. X-Files is BACK!! And I am so going to watch it. Chris Carter, the creator of the X-Files series has decided to bring Agent Mulder and Agent Scully back to the screen - that's like gospel to all fans of the X-files series (Ahem, anyone remember the term "X-Philes"?). Ok, somebody should just give him an Oscar or Emmy.
Yes, the movie! It's going to be called "X-Files : I Want to Believe". “I Want to Believe” was a slogan frequently used throughout the run of the television series. It appeared on a poster over Fox Mulder’s desk, and it's almost synonymous with the other tagline "The Truth is Out There".
I admit I am a super big fan of the series during my teenage years. The eerie soundtrack and dark images spooked my parents a lot, especially when the show is full of the supernatural (think aliens, screams, and lots of shadows), and they always insist on watching news, so I often only managed to watch piecemeal portions of it. But who can forget the alter-egos Cigarette Man, mysterious Jeremiah Smiths, and The Ink? And the exciting episodes on Scully's abductions, the alien foetus, and the chip in her scalp?
The characters Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) and Agent Scully (Gillian Anderson) single-handedly brought everything to life with their intense chemistry. But I admit the story spiralled out of proportion at the end of Season 7 (also the end of the series), that even the X-Files Movie in 2001 didn't really answer many questions - "Did they actually have a love child?", "What happen to Cigarette Man?", and "Where did Jeremiah Smith go?"
Now I just need another X-Phile to enjoy the show together in July 2008.
